test shooting

I am preparing for Layla's BIG 4th birthday photo shoot...that I will be doing this year.  Not sure how I feel about that...but I am sure some bribing will get me a long way...so we shall see.  No doubt you will see pictures once it is all said and done.

I showed you the graffiti area that I am going to use for some of these shots.

But I went to check out a few more sketchy, art infested areas today at lunch to snap some pics before my family photo session this weekend.  They {the fam} are an ultra hip and bad ass mommy/daughter duo, so it should be fun.  Plus add Layla in the mix...oh boy!!!!

I love this sign!!!!  WE HEART HOUSTON.  {we really do!}  And I have been wanting to go locate it for many months now, so I am glad I found it!!!!

This piece of art will make its permanent residence along the I-10 corridor, near downtown, so I am lucky that it is still hanging around at the owners work yard.  And he {the owner} does not do the whole "DO NOT TAKE PICTURES OF MY ART" thing!  Cool guy.  I appreciate that.  And his work.  So Thank you David Adickes.  I think you rock....and not just for your 36 foot tall rendering of the Beatle's either!!!  Seriously, this guy is amazing.

So that was my test shooting for the day!  I am so excited to go back, with my girl, and the dynamic duo!!!!

Happy Thursday - almost - Friday - Day!

Good to Wow - Laughter!

Now I wouldn't call this edit a WOW edit, but it definitely was an improvement from the original, SOOC.  So, I am gonna link up with Ms. Sisk anyway.  It's fun for me...not much else at this point.

{laughter edited}

{laughter SOOC, too dark, distractions}

I played with the exposure and the colors a bit and that's about it!  I think it looks much better now.

We were at Marble Slab with her friend for Red Head Appreciation Day!!!  Too cute.

{They have a new Red Velvet Ice Cream to promote...what better way?}

And I captured the laughter image when I snuck around and caught them hiding from us behind this Shake It Up sign!!!!

Wordless(ish) Wednesday - The Circus!

I owe you some of "The Greatest Show on Earth" pictures!!!  Our time at the circus was a blast and I condensed the nearly 100 pics to these choosen few.

Have I mentioned me and Layla are going to be clowns for halloween?  We are.  I wanna be one with big pants and a rainbow fro.  And Layla wants big shoes and a huge bow in her hair.  We will be a sight to behold, I am sure of it!

{The Ring Master}

{The Host of The Show}

Funny story.  I made a big to do about Layla getting a picture with this man.  You see, I thought he was the Ring Master.  Nope, just the Host.  But, cool, none the less.  Layla looks excited and scared outta her mind at the same time.  It was a bit overwhelming.

{the overwhelming-ness + fun}

{she did this to appease me.  good girl.}

This above photo is my entry into the Trendy Treehouse HAIR theme.  I just love Layla's hair to curls and ringlets...and I also adore the Snazzie Drawers headband she is wearing.  Win, win.  Well, at least I hope so.   But I know her look is!!!

{Letter I - itsy bitsy}

And the photo above is another entry to a photo challenge.  {Sorry I can't help myself...they are fun!}  Captivus - Letter Photo Challenge - Week 9 - I.

a good one

To get the best of the video embedded....scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page, and pause the music.  Then come back up and have a listen.  I promise it is worth the lil bit of trouble.

Love Sublime.  Love the talent that was Amy Winehouse.  Perfection....

Hindsight - Quotes of Amy Winehouse

I'm of the school of thought where, if you can't sort something out for yourself, no one can help you. Rehab is great for some people but not others.

If I died tomorrow, I would be a happy girl.

I know I'm talented, but I wasn't put here to sing. I was put here to be a wife and a mom and look after my family. I love what I do, but it's not where it begins and ends.

a sad saturday

Amy Winehouse has been found dead in her London apartment.  Such a shame.

{via}

Although the press predicted this for years and it seemed inevitable due to the way she chose to live her life...it's still sad.  Such talent.  So young.  Another life lost.  She was only 27!

{via}

Rest in Peace.  Your music will live on.  And may this sweet girl remain in your parents heart and I pray God brings them peace and understanding.

So far removed from all that we went through

And I tread a troubled track

My odds are stacked

I'll go back to black

re-coop

Ugh, damn I'm tired. The circus did us in.

Layla had a blast and that is what I was aiming for!!!!  She was dancing in her seat.  Screaming and clapping and participating.  It was a joy to watch.

I have tons o pictures, but I am slammed at work today.  Annnnnd....I have to leave early because Little Miss Social Butterfly has yet another birthday party to attend today at the Children's Museum.  At 4.  At 4.

I work.  'Til 5, usually.  The life of a SAHM, perhaps?!?  Perhaps.

At any rate....here is some circus-y cuteness to pull you through the weekend.  Hooray for the weekend!!!

Tag A lot Thursday

There is an awesome art gallery/shop in Houston, right off of Shepherd and Washington, Alva Graphics, that has the most fabulous street art graffiti walls.  It is near my work and we pass it everyday, Monday through Friday.  Well the other day I decided it was high time to go snap some pics of the graffiti art before it gets covered up again with a new set.

That is kinda what they do, I think.  I have seen the outside store walls designed three or four different ways over the last year or so.  And the current art is fabulous and I couldn't let it get away.  I heart graffiti art so so much...not gang tagging, but actual street art, like you are about to see.

Apperantly, the owners of the fine art collection store had a graffiti show and demo and people came out and watched the art go up...cool!  Wish I would have known.

Here are my favorite captures.

I am also so excited about this location because I have a photo shoot lined up with a fabulous mommy and daughter duo, whose style will only add to the funkiness and uniqueness that this kind of color and texture and art bring!!!!  So I say BRING IT ON!!!!

OH!  And I also have to say the So You Think You Can Dance (aka SYTYCD) episode last night...07.20.11...was my favorite all time episode EVER!!!!  Ever.  And this is like Season EIGHT...and I have been watching since the be.gin.ning!!!!  It was magical, mind blowing, breath taking and I refuse to erase it from my DVR because I will be watching and re-watching it over and over again.  Simply marvelous.

If you have never tuned in....I highly suggest you do.  And if you have for some reason tuned out...I highly suggest you tune back in.  Stat.

Off to see the Greatest Show on Earth tonight!!!  To say me and the girl are excited would be an understatement.
