It always seems like I have to learn the hard way.  Why is that!?  {sorry, that was a question for my own self to answer}

My a/c stopped working on Monday....while the Texas heat soared to 109 degrees!!!!  Gawd help me...

We {I am assuming some of you do it, too} take a lot of things for granted.  Like, clean water.  Like, a roof over our heads.  Like, air conditioning!!!!!

{I looked like this.  Ha!!!  Er, something like this.}

Or, probably more like this.  Truth be told.  It was 90 degrees IN.MY.HOUSE!!!

And Layla like this...since we were dog ass hot!

We actually went OUTSIDE for relief.  Because it was less sweltering and at least had a breeze.

A hot breeze, but a breeze, no less.

And while I was thankful to the ARSholes who fixed my a/c....truth is it was more like this!  #hotweatherrobbery

And now some funnies to lighten the mood. {and the temps?!  Nah, not a chance.)

You know you're in TEXAS when:

You can make instant sun tea.

You actually burn your hand opening the car door.

You break a sweat the instant you step outside at 7:30 am before work.

Manic Monday - 06.25.12

The question is not what you look at,

{shirt via Cotton Laundry on etsy}

but what you see.

{glasses via Occhiolini}

~ Henry David Thoreau girl needed glasses.  And glasses is what she got!  Now....she needs a new pose.  lol.  Sassy sister girl!!!

Thursday, June 21, 2012's finally summertime, eh?!

As much as I miss the blogging world....I wish I could say I miss the summer!  ha...I know, I know.  It just started.  For YOU!  Where ever you might be.

But, if you are in Texas, then summer-like temps have been our "companion" since early March.  Damn, ya''s HOT!!!!  Yes, we got to swimming, like 3 months ago...and start working on that nice summer glow.

While it certainly has it's gets overwhelming too.  Makes you slow.  Makes you sweat.  I could go on, but I won't!!!!  Instead, I'll just show fantastic pictures and wish my summer looked a little more like this...

Wishing you all the best....SUMMER!!!

for the daddy's....

If my world were to cave in tomorrow,

I would look back on all the pleasures, excitements and worthwhilenesses I have been lucky enough to have had.

It will have been enough.

it's flag day, ya'll!

On June 14, 1889, George Balch, a kindergarten teacher in New York, planned a celebration of the American flag for his students. It was made an official holiday by Pres. Woodrow Wilson in 1916.

During World War II, saluting the flag was deemed to be too similar to Hitler's Nazi salute, so Americans began holding their hands over their hearts singing the National Anthem, a tradition that still holds today.

After Hawaii and Alaska were inducted into the Union in 1958, Congress had to create a new flag. It chose a design by Robert Heft, a 17-year-old student who originally made it for a high school project.

Did you know...if Puerto Rico becomes a state ~ which looks likely with an initial referendum to be voted upon on this coming November ~ the flag will have to accommodate a 51st star!!!  You wanna design that?
The American flag is an enduring symbol of liberty, democracy, and justice.

American-style iced tea is the perfect drink

for a hot, sunny day.

~ Tom Holt

*I traded Coca-Cola for sweet iced tea.  I don't think that is an improvement.  We swim every weekend and Layla definitely has improved.

my life. and blinks of it.

I have always found to be a blog that I can simply "fall into."  If that makes any sense at all.  It's like she feels what I feel and can produce the thoughts...put them to such eloquent words.  When, I, am simply lost.

I love one of her recent I thought I would partake.

I was…breaking.  And then realized that I just don't have time to do that.  Big girl panties back ON!

I am…stronger than I give myself credit for.  And I am allowed to break at times.

I think…that life is not fair.  But, it won't stop on account of my thought.

I wonder…what a stress free life would really feel like!?

I wish…for great health for me, my family and my friends.  Riches would be nice, but not at all as important.

I save…it all!  I hold it together for as long as I can and then BAM!  I save all the emotional breakdown shit for about once a year.  It just happened.  So I should be good for awhile.

I always…hope for a better day!

I can’t imagine…my life without those who help pick me while I am down.  You know who you are, and I thank you.

I believe…the children are our future!  Teach them well and let them lead the way.  ha!  No, but seriously...kinda.

I promise…to love more.  Practice patience and be kind.

I love…with my whole being.  Heart, soul and mind.

sh*t happens...and it's happening NOW!

I am in the midst of a breakdown.  I do this.  It's what I do.  Every year, I break.  It all comes out.  Life becomes overwhelming and just all too much for me to process....I could go into detail, but like I have time!?!?  I'm currently busy breaking....

But, I also have enough since to know...that life goes on.  Pick yourself up...carry on.  It's what I have to do.

It's time to spread those wings of mine...and JUMP!

Ordinary riches can be stolen,

real riches cannot.

In your soul are infinitely precious things

what is a grandma?

By definition:  grand·moth·er (n.)

1. The mother of one's father or mother.

2. A female ancestor.

But, honestly, mine is so much more than that to me.  And right now...she's not doing so well.  And my thoughts are only with her...and how I need to go be with her.  Unfortunately, she wouldn't know I was there.  She is in a non-responsive state.  I think those "few good years left" are coming to an end.  But her love never will end.  She has a piece of my heart and always, always will.

What is a Grandma by Barbara Cage

A grandma is warm hugs and sweet memories.

She remembers all of your accomplishments and forgets all of your mistakes. She is someone you can tell your secrets and worries to, and she hopes and prays that all your dreams come true.

She always loves you, no matter what. She can see past temper tantrums and bad moods, and makes it clear that they don't affect how precious you are to her.

She is an encouraging word and a tender touch. She is full of proud smiles.

She is the one person in the world who loves you with all her heart, who remembers the child you were and cherishes the person you've become.

My sweet Honey.  Your Miss Melis needs you to hang in there just a lil bit longer.  I know you are tired.  I am tired of seeing you hurt.  Seeing you struggle.  Mom has done so much for you, and I know she is tired of this pain too.  But, I need that one last hug.  That one last kiss.  That one last "So, Miss Melis, what's new in your world!?"  And I know Layla wants to see her "Honey Bunny" too....

We love you with our whole being.  And I can smile knowing you know this!!!!  There is a sense of peace in my heart because of that.  You are 91, Honey!  What a magnificent life!?!

Better than a thousand hollow words, is one word that brings peace.

~ Buddha

That one word is HONEY, to me.
