Flashback Friday circa 1975


While I was not even a thought in my momma and daddy's minds at this point, I still know 1975 was a good year!

And this is how I know it....

Jaws made a record breaking appearance on the big screen, raking in over $100M.

{I still LOVE this movie!  A classic.}

FASHION


Bring on the Disco era!!!  Mini skirts were in high demand, and high platformed soled shoes were it!  We also ushered in the use of a lot of rayon, polyester and lycra, baby!!  Hot pants were a plenty. 

{She's werkin' them hot pants, huh?}

{I am going to venture to say the term "camel toe" also made its appearance this year!!}
{oh yeah baby!!}





And it was all about the "Farrah" hair!

On April 30th, the city of Saigon surrendered and all remaining Americans were evacuated, ending the Vietnam War.


Did you know 1975 was the Year of the Golf?  As in the Volkswagen Golf.  Oh yeah, baby!


It was known as the new front-wheel-drive economy car.  In the United States and Canada, we knew it as the Volkswagen Rabbit.

Southwest Airlines In 1975:

~ smoking was permitted inflight
~ hot pants and gogo boots were the required uniform
~ only women were flight attendants at Southwest

We also said hello to this household staple.


And Barney Miller - I loved this show as a kid...though now I am not sure why?  Ha!
The Watergate Scandal was in its sentencing phase...


On March 8th, the United Nations proclaims International Woman's Day.  Yay!


Bill Gates founded Microsoft this year...would you have invested?


The Busch Gardens opened in Williamsburg, VA.


The Superdome in New Orleans, Lousiana opens its doors for the first time...


The Thrilla in Manila, where Muhammad Ali defeats Joe Frazier in a boxing match in Manila, Philippines.

love me some rocky horror picture show. i used to do the timewarp dance as a kid. probably shouldn't have with the pelvic thrust part in it.

What a fun post! I just watched a documentary on the making of Jaws the other day. I had no idea that Steven Spielberg was so young!
