Holy Cow, Batman...Little Bee

This book is a good trick.  Wow!  You think you are going down one really twisted path, and then turn the page...bam!  New path.  New direction.

Chris Cleave, the author of this book, is writing from the perspective of two different women.  That, in itself, is impressive.  I am amazed that people have the sort of mind to creative these types of stories, so detailed and precise.

I am highly suggesting this book.  It is a good read.  And this is coming from the girl who never read.  Ever.  This is my second book, the first being Eat, Pray, Love, since my adulthood.  Got it on Tuesday, finshed it on Sunday.  To me, that screams good book.

And guess what?  I picked up Water for Elephants today.  I am impressing myself!

I don't want to say too much about Little Bee, but I will leave you with some of the most memorable parts of the book, in my opinion.

We must see all scars as beauty.  Okay?  This will be our secret.  Because take it from me, a scar does not form on the dying.  A scar means, I survived.

You live in a world of machines and you dream of things with beating hearts.  We dream of machines, because we see where beating hearts have left us.

...the boy's father had dark skin, darker even than my own, and the boy's mother was a white woman.  They were holding hands and smiling at their boy, whose skin was light brown.  It was the color of the man and the woman joined in happiness.  It was such a good color that tears came into my eyes.
