Most of you are aware today is National Donut Day!!!  And if you didn't know, now you know.  So, this is the perfect excuse to go grab a sugary, sprinkle topped doughy piece of heaven and not feel so guilty about it.  Go ahead, take your pick!

Or maybe you feel so fancy, you could make your own batch!?!

And at the end of the day when you might be feeling guilty for all the yummy goodness you just consumed, I say throw on your swimsuit and hit up the pool!  Celebrate.

every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end

Here I am again.  With so much that has happened.  While I doubt I have "readers" anymore...I am still documenting my life for me.  And for Layla.  And for those that do love me to look back on...

So here goes!

We've had a lot of good-bye's in the last few weeks.  Her first and only school from 3 months on....

That was a bitter sweet, SAD, good-bye.  I just knew I would cry through all of this.  But, I was stronger than I realized.

Layla is just like her momma.  She puts up a strong front while saying good-bye to all her friends and teachers, but as soon as we got to a "safe place" - the tears began.  I was backing out of the parking lot, and she muttered, "I am probably really gonna miss this school."  And bring on the waterworks.  The snot.  She was a mess.  I felt so sad for her, but reassured her she would love her new school just as much!

But, I gave her a hug.  Told it was okay to miss them and we would come back and visit.  I handed her a tissue to wipe the tears and snot and told her to touch up her make-up.  lol!  And all was well in the world again.

Then it was off to meet the teacher....and even though Layla said, "I am scared!"  Why?  "Because I don't know how to study!"  #sheisariot

She loves her new teacher and handled her first day, first week of school like a champ!  Such a relief for this momma.  :)

And even though she is making new friends, "but can't remember their names."  Apparently she is good at remembering who you are when you are not nice.  She told us on Wednesday, "Isaiah Buck called me a baby.  And I told him, 'I am NOT a baby!'"  #mygirl

In other news....my warrior of a grandma is still hanging tough.  It's what we do.

Happy Labor Day to you all!

let's take a goooooood look!

I have a lot to post on.  I took a blogging break because I was in one of those too-busy-no-time-not-much-to-post-about-lows!

You all know {or maybe not} that baby girl, indeed, needed SPECS!  She kept telling me.  I kept seeing the squints.  And I finally took her to a doctor to have her eyes examined.  And I sure am glad!  I know she will see clearly now when kindergarten starts in LESS THAN SIX WEEKS!!!!  {holy mother...I may faint}

you like to let the hair do the talking!

p.s. No, I did not, nor could I braid her hair.  And yes, I love the curls more!!!

sweltering

It always seems like I have to learn the hard way.  Why is that!?  {sorry, that was a question for my own self to answer}

My a/c stopped working on Monday....while the Texas heat soared to 109 degrees!!!!  Gawd help me...

We {I am assuming some of you do it, too} take a lot of things for granted.  Like, clean water.  Like, a roof over our heads.  Like, air conditioning!!!!!

Magic_by_maradinn_large
{I looked like this.  Ha!!!  Er, something like this.}

Or, probably more like this.  Truth be told.  It was 90 degrees IN.MY.HOUSE!!!

And Layla like this...since we were dog ass hot!

We actually went OUTSIDE for relief.  Because it was less sweltering and at least had a breeze.

A hot breeze, but a breeze, no less.

And while I was thankful to the ARSholes who fixed my a/c....truth is it was more like this!  #hotweatherrobbery

And now some funnies to lighten the mood. {and the temps?!  Nah, not a chance.)

You know you're in TEXAS when:

You can make instant sun tea.

You actually burn your hand opening the car door.

You break a sweat the instant you step outside at 7:30 am before work.

The {Pre-K} Graduate

Graduation is only a concept. In real life every day you graduate. Graduation is a process that goes on until the last day of your life. If you can grasp that, you'll make a difference.
~ Arie Pencovici

{Well looky here!  There you are, baby girl!  A Graduate.}

My dearest Layla baby,

Yesterday you embarked on the beginning of what I hope is an incredible educational journey.  We celebrated you yesterday!  All that you have accomplished and learned since beginning at this wonderful Day Care Learning Center more than four years ago.  It seems as if only yesterday I was leaving you as a tiny baby to return to work.  That was a very hard day for me.

And look at you now, kiddo!?!

Every caregiver/teacher you had throughout your duration at this school, loved you as if you were apart of their family.  And you were!  That place is like family to us and seeing all of that coming to a close is hard for momma.  But I know they have provided you with knowledge and early life lessons that will make Kindergarten a breeze for you.  For all the love and tenderness they gave to you when I couldn't...I am forever grateful.

Mommy and daddy are so very proud of you.  We look forward to your future with great expectations!  We love you with all that we are.

Love,
Momma

p.s. As distinguished as you were at your Graduation Ceremony....it tickled me to no end to have you end the day like this...

At the height of laughter, the universe is flung into a kaleidoscope of new possibilities.

silly fun - my doppelganger

Doppelgänger: (German "double walker") (pronounced [ˈdɔpəlˌɡɛŋɐ]) is a paranormal double of a living person, typically representing evil or misfortune. In modern vernacular, the word has come to refer to any double or look-alike of a person.

A Mommas Desires and Pacifiers

Okay...so I am gonna have a leetle fun today and I hope you will join me!  I may be a tad late to this par-tay, but that is nothing new!

I am using this sweet lil pic I snapped up while at Layla's Mini Olympics on Sunday.  {more on that later!}

And while I have been told I resemble Rachel Bilson....{which I don't see!}

Oh, and I guy I work with calls me 'Spice Girl' because he thinks I resemble uber-skinny {obviously not because of the body} Victoria Beckham...{again, sooooo.not.seeing it!}

This quirky lil site seems to think I resemble Mary-Kate Olsen and/or Ashanti.  Oh, and Harrison Ford, too!  Thaaaaanks!  But we are NOT going there today.

What say ye?!?  Who do you think I look like?

Who is YOUR doppelganger?

Quotography - Red

When I saw this quote, I just KNEW I had to use it for this weeks Quotography prompt:  RED!

And I found the perfect picture to go with it.

It looks like Layla is thinking, "Just what can I do next!?!?!"  Love it.

first the pics and then the party

I am impressing myself, you guys!  I am holding strong on the February Photo Challenge, and it is Day 7!  Yeah, yeah....some of you are probably like, "big deal!?!"  But this is big for me.

So I am gonna post Day 6 - dinner and Day 7 - button and then I will get to the yummy cuteness that was Addie Mae's 2nd birthday party on Saturday.  And since tomorrow will be Day 8 - sun....I will pray the overcast sky diminishes in Houston and Mr. Sun comes out to play.  If not, I am sure I will think of something.  You'll understand what I am talking about when you see my next two pictures!  hehehehe.

{Day 6 - dinner}

{Day 7 - button}

Hopefully the remaining photo challenge pictures of mine will get a little more inspiring.  I know I am failing right now.

At any rate, Happy Tuesday everyone!

I've got a mish mash mush {that's for you summer baby} Friday going on.  I'm still snapping away at the February Photo Challenge.  Yay for me!

As you can see Day 3 is HANDS.  I was trying to think of a sweet way to capture me and Layla holding hands, but then the prime opportunity came to me last night while watching American Idol.

{Day 3 - HANDS}

Thank you Layla baby...you never let me down.  I am a two finger kinda Cheetoe eater.  The thumb and the index.  Layla is obviously...a go all in....hand Cheetoe eater.  I guess whatever works.  To each, their own.

Now if I can only remember to capture a stranger on Saturday and 10 am on Sunday, I think I will be on a roll.

:::::

As some of you might know, I am a huge graffiti lover.  While driving to work in the dreary, rainy Houston weather this morning, I immediately got a huge smile on my face when I saw that Coolidge had struck again!  Yesssss....

Dear Houston Authorities...please do not try and cover this one up too...because....

{via}

....he WILL strike again.  hahahahaha!!!!  And his art is lovely afterall.

:::::

Not sure about you...but this girl loves some football.  And the Super Bowl will be in full effect on Sunday?  Who ya rootin' for?  Do tell!  While this hunka-man-meat is desirable, yet taken....

I, myself, will be cheering for the NY GIANTS, baby!!!!

Ummmm....okay!!!!

Now THAT is what I call representin'!!!!
