High Octane

We had a wonderful Saturday at the Drag Races. Our good friend, Stevie, his dad, Steve, girlfriend, Margie and friend, Art, pulled in to town on Friday night for a Drag Race on Saturday. Layla absolutely adores Stevie and Margie, and asks about them frequently. She was a live wire once they got into town and had a blast at the race! Look at our little one below. Looks like a pro sitting in Steve's supped up Mustang, huh?

From left to right: Margie, Stevie and Miss Layla when we arrived at the track
Layla and her "Stevie" with the man in charge - Big Steve! What a great, funny man he is?!?!
Below Margie is helping Stevie prepare for his big race. He ran a 5.8 earlier in the day which qualified him to race again. This time against an old red (SUPER NICE) camaro. (The camaro ran a six-something earlier in the day!) This should be an easy qualifying round for Stevie...
Layla standing watch as her "Stevie" gets ready to put the pedal to the metal.
A candid shot with mommy. However, Layla is too busy staring at Stevie as we pull him to the track in the golf cart. She had a blast on that thing!
Stevie revvin' up the engines! And at this point, Big Steve, Stevie and Margie (who me and Layla were standing with) knew something was wrong with the 'Stang. They heard it back fire - I did not. Margie said, "Something is wrong" right before they were off. She was right.
Stevie lost to the Camaro. BOO!!! Camaro - 6.44 seconds. Mustang - 6.88 seconds. Needless to say, both Steve's were PISSED! This is them checking out the engine after the run...Even though Stevie would be disqualified, he demanded a test run. (We didn't last that late into the night!)

And here is Layla enjoying a Drag Race kind of hot dog! Yum, yum.
And this is Layla's new Drag Race friend. (I know she is NOT striking a pose? Is she?!?!)

We had a wonderful time and we are looking forward to Steve's next big race! We are his new biggest fans!!!
