I'm new at this...

...so bare with me.  But, I wanted to share some of my favorite pics that I snapped on my first "photo shoot!"  I am by NO means professional....and NONE of these photos were editted in any capacity yet...but, here goes...

And my lil stinker got some camera time too, although she loathes the camera.  Especially when mommy is behind it.  Oh well...she better get use to it.

Flashback Friday - 2001

I realize 2001 is a hard year to flashback to.  But, I also believe it is important to do so.  So, that we truly, NEVER FORGET.

Today, our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack in a series of deliberate and deadly terrorist acts. The victims were in airplanes, or in their offices; secretaries, businessmen and women, military and federal workers; moms and dads, friends and neighbors. Thousands of lives were suddenly ended by evil, despicable acts of terror . . . This is a day when all Americans from every walk of life unite in our resolve for justice and peace. America has stood down enemies before, and we will do so this time. None of us will ever forget this day. Yet, we go forward to defend freedom and all that is good and just in our world.

Obviously, he was our President.  And I voted for him.  Judge me all you want.  I still believe he handled this tragic and unthinkable act remarkably well.

Meli Faif graduated with a Bachelors in Business from Stephen F. Austin State University, in Nacogdoches, Texas.  Which just so happens to be the oldest town in Texas.  Cool, huh?

my duty...and yours too

I just finished reading and watching a video about a 29 year old Army Ranger that served 12 tours in the U.S. on-going wars.  8 tours in Afghanistan and 4 tours in Iraq.  Only to be brought home for a final time.  In a casket.  To read more about his tremendous giving self, please click here.

Today marks 9 years of war in Afghanistan.  I think you should take a moment and look at this.

Do you know what you were doing on October 9, 2001 when the United States of America began war conflict in Afghanistan?  I know I was in college studying.  Perhaps, partying?  But, thousands upon thousands of our U.S. Troops and other countries have been waging a war.  A daily fight.  For our freedom.  Our freedom to blog.  Our freedom to speak.  Our freedom to be down right FREE!  Plain and simple.  But, what they face on a daily basis is far from plain and simple.

Please take a moment today and every day to pray for God to provide the courage our troops need to continue to fight the good fight.  Pray for their loved ones.  And pray for those who have given their lives so whole heartily.

Therefore, I would like to say that my Flashback Friday post tomorrow will focus on the year of 2001.  I know that year has a stigma attached to it.  It was a tragic and heart breaking year for most Americans, and many others, but I think its relevance is important and will help us to remember....AND NEVER FORGET!

In addition to her cracking me up with her words....{yes we correct her}....she also cracks me up with her statements! 

In the car the other day:

Layla:  "Mom, you are gonna make a baby today...."
Me:  "I am?!?"
Layla:  "...yeah, outta play-doh!"
Me:  (relief)  "Yep!  I will make 30 babies out of play-doh for you!"
Layla:  "And I am gonna be the sister."
Me:  (silence)

Listening to the radio this week:

THIS is playing.  ...so fly like a G6!
Layla:  "Did she just say cheese stick?"
Me:  "Bahahahahaha!  No honey, she said G6, but cheese stick is funny.  Let's use it!"
Layla:  "Hehehehehe!"

So you can imagine what our lyrics sound like now....like a cheese stick!
