Happy Blessings for the New Year!

Glory to God in highest heaven,
Who unto man His Son hath given;
While angels sing with tender mirth,
A glad new year to all the earth.

~ Martin Luther

We will open the book.
Its pages are blank.
We are going to put words on them ourselves.
The book is called Opportunity
and its first chapter is New Year's Day.

~ Edith Lovejoy Pierce

Year's end is neither an end
nor a beginning but a going on,
with all the wisdom
that experience can instill in us.

~ Hal Borland

Drop the last year
into the silent limbo of the past.
Let it go, for it was imperfect,
and thank God that it can go.

~ Brooks Atkinson

An optimist stays up until midnight
to see the new year in.
A pessimist stays up
to make sure the old year leaves.

~ Bill Vaughn

He who breaks a resolution is a weakling;
He who makes one is a fool.

~ F.M. Knowles

And remember.  No Drinking and Driving.  It is sooooooo not worth it!

I never had a chance to meet my dad's parents because some drunk ass killed them in while using his car as a killing machine.  Sorry to be so blunt, but sometimes that's what it takes.

Ya'll be good now, ya hear? And I'll see you next year! Thank the Lord.

(Or at least better than this one!)

Humble Pie

We all know it is good for the soul...so please check out this simply wonderful blog called Humble Pie!

I love her header.  It speaks volumes.  And truth.

One Word Wednesday - 8th Edition

DOWN

What ONE WORD does the above picture make you think of?
Please do share!

I'm back...barely.

Hey guys!  I have missed you.  Hope you feel the same.

I am not gonna lie to you all though.  This Christmas was a rough one for me.  2009 was a rough one for me.  And my family.  And my friends.  And I am happy to see it go.

I know I am blessed.  Yes I do.  But, life ain't fair, as my momma would always say.  Boy, if I only knew?

I am okay.  Just sad.  I think I have hit a low and I have tons on my mind.  Not that I don't believe in you all.  But, I am just not an open book like some people are able to be on their blog.  I have lots to share.  But, not really.  I guess I am gonna leave this one between me and the Big Man upstairs.

I do and always will appreciate any prayers sent my way!

Oh yeah - Monday was my birthday too!  Whoo-hoo.

Baked my own cake.  Made my own dinner.  That, though - really is all good.  Never made a big deal about my b-day.  It is squwished right in between Christmas and New Year's - so what's the point?

And Christmas was amazing with Layla this year.  And my family too.  We missed quite a few special souls that went on to the other life.  And I really missed them.  A lot.

So before I dive into blogging again...I think I need to re-group.  I am praying 2010 brings about many great changes and happy moments in my - and your - world!

When I am in need of inspiration, Thresca nevers disappoints.  And her first post on her blog spoke to me today...in a large way.  Hope everyone had a joyous and blessed Christmas.  Here's to a glorious New Year!

I don’t want to wait anymore. I choose to believe that there is nothing more sacred or profound than this day. I choose to believe that there may be a thousand big moments embedded in this day, waiting to be discovered like tiny shards of gold. The big moments are the daily, tiny moments of courage and forgiveness and hope that we grab on to and extend to one another. That’s the drama of life, swirling all around us, and generally I don’t even see it, because I’m too busy waiting to become whatever it is I think I am about to become. The big moments are in every hour, every conversation, every meal, every meeting.

Latest and Greatest

Here is my latest creation.

Nothing like waiting until the last cryin' minute, huh?  Sorry for the poor photo quality.  A photographer, I am not.  That is apparent.  Although that is my next hobby to tackle.  Hahahahahahahahahahaha.  Oh sorry.  That was funny to me.

It don't break even

What am I gonna do
when the best part of me was always you
And what am I suppose to say
when I'm all choked up and you're okay
'Cause when a heart breaks
No, it don't break even

The Script - Breakeven

Holy Cow!

& it became so clear so suddenly.
Darling, you're allergic to honesty.

I just noticed I already posted my 300th.  Wow.  Whoa.  300th post!  I really did not think I had that much to type about...

Oh - I really don't?  Really?

What are you reading then?

Just So You Know

You don't even wanna know!

Really.  You don't.

You don't even wanna know how I have spent the entire morning and most of the afternoon...

If you know anything about the about those people above...

...then you know where I was!

And all of the dresses were hung...

...on the tree with care!

A little twist to the Christmas original!

I completely swoon over this mans work.  You will surely see more lovely postings of his gloriness on this blog.  No doubt.  He is fab.

Okay! Okay?

Our Turkey Day..finally!

I am oh so bad.  In more ways than one.  But, I am speaking about Turkey Day!

I never got around to posting about our wonderful, special Thanksgiving Holiday in San Antonio.  We were blessed with Richard's brother and sister and their families this go 'round.  That never happens, as they live in Oklahoma.

We all gathered at Richard's dad and step-mother's house and it was truly a holiday to remember!

Richard's younger, yes, younger - brother and wife and their seven, yes SEVEN, kids made the car ride down.  As well as Richard's older sister and her husband.  Unfortunately, Sidney, our niece, couldn't make it because she was working.  Good for her.  She is 16 and saving for a car!  I am always a huge supporter of hard workers!  Go girl.

Myself and Layla headed over to the house pretty early so I could offer to help Le-Anna.  Aka "Nana."  I knew she wouldn't accept, but at least I was there to offer.   That is what counts.  Right?  Plus, everyone loves company.

Here is Miss Layla waiting on her cousins.  They decided to get out of the house and went to a nearby park.  Layla was bored, in case you cannot tell.

Seriously?  Where. Are. My. Cousins?

Lovely table, as usual, Le-Anna.

And here comes the "gang!"
That is "Pawpa" with his baby in his lap, Prince.

That cute little guy in the far left portion of the picture is Jason Jr. and he is the eldest of 7 kiddos.
Jason Jr. - age 9
Jaiden - age 6
Javeon - age 5
Jayshaun - age 4
Jalecia - age 3
Jaliana - age 2
Jacoby - age 1

I am so not even kidding!

Below is Jalecia.

That is Jaiden and Jayshawn.

Jason Jr., Javeon and Jaiden.  (aka - gang members. ha!)

That is the little one, Jacoby.

And that is the baby girl, Jaliana - aka "nah-nah."

I see you Jayshawn.  (I so wanted to take him home with us!)

Below is Layla with "aunt" Cristine.  That there is the momma of ALL of those kids.
Totally not kidding.  That is her!

There is Nana and Pawpa in the kitchen
But, don't be fooled.  Le-Anna did it all.

And her momma, Mama Sylvia, helped some too!

Me and my girl.

Some more gang activity...someone please call the cops!

She loved having her picture taken...

Some much needed down time with Pawpa, the enforcer.

I don't know 'bout ya'll...

...but, I am ready to hit the road!

I am getting all anxious to start my holiday vacation!  How about you?  Going anywhere?
